John Corcacas is lead guitarist and plays the harmonica. He formed the band in 2018, shortly after retiring from his career as a Financial Planner and relocating to Millsboro, Delaware. John is originally from Brooklyn, New York and grew up in Garden City, New York. His musical influences include Eric Clapton, Carlos Santana, Led Zeppelin, BB King, Blues Breakers. He started by playing violin in his school Orchestra in the 4th grade. He then took guitar and music lessons privately for 4 years. His first guitar was a Goya semi-hollow electric. While not playing his guitar, he keeps busy riding his Harley Fatboy, and is also a licensed FAA pilot, hence the name, Tailwinds Band.
Dan Bausher is the keyboard player and started performing at the young age of 13. Dan has played countless events in his sixty-year career at various venues and events, including touring with national artists. Although people have remarked they cannot believe he is still performing, his response to that is, “it never gets old. Seeing the joy, smiles and laughter on the audiences’ faces while dancing or singing along, is priceless.”
Drew Milano is the bass guitarist and began his musical career at the very young age of 5 when his mother signed him up for piano lessons, then for accordion lessons, and finally back to piano lessons again. Having disliked both instruments, he joined the school band as a trombone player and disliked that even more! However, when the Beatles came to America, he discovered his love of the guitar and has been playing with rock bands since the age of 13. While in his third semester at Stonybrook South Hampton, NY he changed his major from Marine Biology to music and the rest is history. With a degree in music, he became a recording engineer in New York City for twenty years until the technology dramatically changed and recording equipment became affordable for home use. He then became a salesman for pro audio equipment/video installation contractor products until his retirement in 1997. Drew invites everyone to “come and join us as we play the songs that gave us such joy over the years.”
Mike Rodriguez is lead vocalist and began his musical career as a roadie and light man in his hometown of the Bronx, NY while simultaneously working for Boars Head Provisions. He was heavily influenced by Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath and began singing in a heavy metal band, Excalibur, in the 80s. In the 90s, he was singer and songwriter for the band, Tungsten. He retired in 1997 and currently resides in Milton, DE. After 27 years, he is now performing for Tailwinds, and states, “you’re never too old to rock and roll when you love music.”
Jim Labella was born in Church Point, LA, but grew up in Levittown, PA and then Mt. Holly, NJ. After retiring from his career in Human Resources Management 8 years ago, he relocated to Lewes, DE. He started playing drums at age 12 and joined his first band when he was just 13. From the ages of 18 to 25, he spent most weekends playing with various bands. He enjoys southern rock bands, especially the Allman Brothers. After taking a break from music for many years, he was able to get back to playing classic rock since joining Tailwinds. He finds it especially interesting that while playing 70s music that was at one time current, he is now playing the same music today. He describes playing with Tailwinds “like a time machine.”
Bruce Antonio was born in Meriden, CT, and is retired from the City of Meriden Water Department. As a teenager, he took private guitar lessons and not only plays rhythm guitar for Tailwinds, but also sings backup vocals. His early musical influences include BTO, Santana, Bryan Adams, the Tubes and Jeff Beck. Bruce currently resides in Millsboro, DE and has many hobbies including jet skiing, snow skiing, and mountain biking.
We're often asked what genre of music we play, but it's hard to put us in a box. We draw inspiration from classic rock of the 60's and 70's, then make it our own. Our sound is dynamic and our playlist is always evolving.
We love playing live shows and connecting with our fans. Our shows are energetic and full of surprises, and we always try to make each one a unique experience. Check out our tour schedule to see when we're coming to a venue near you.
